New Mexico Runners Return Home For 3rd Season

Rio Rancho, NM (December 31, 2021) – The New Mexico Runners arena soccer team makes its return for their 3rd season on Saturday January 1st, 2022. The Runners kick off the New Year and play host to the Amarillo Bombers at the Rio Rancho Events Center.

It has been about a year and ten months since New Mexico has played at home due to the pandemic. The last game played at the Rio Rancho Events Center was against the Wichita Wings back on March 1st, 2020.

“It feels good to be back on the field and play!” Says Head Coach Steve Famiglietta. This will be the Pro Hall of Famer’s third season with the Runners.

New Mexico’s return to play will feature many players from season 2 including local standouts V. Sue Cleveland High School alum Miguel Garcia, Volcano Vista alum Sergio Fuentes, as well as Eldorado High School alum Isaiah Madrid. There are also new power house players added to the roster for this season including Rio Rancho High School alum and Goalkeeper Nate Yeager, Forward Alejandro Garcia, Midfielder Jobany Villalba, and Forward Daniel Jimenez.

“Our roster this season is hands down the most talented we’ve ever had. Our goal is to lift that trophy up at the end of the season.” States Head Coach Famiglietta.

The Runners have already played two road games for the 3rd season against Omaha a couple weeks ago. New Mexico is currently 0-2 on the season, but with the return home the Runners are ready to turn the tide.

“I’m ecstatic we can get back to what we love to do!” States Team Owner Andres Trujillo. “We have waited for almost two years to bring back awesome sports entertainment for our fans.”

Now, New Mexico looks to get things prepared for the first home game on January 1, 2022 against the Amarillo Bombers. This upcoming game will be a milestone in home play as it has been a year and 10 months since the Runners last played at home. Kick off for the January 1st game is 5:05 PM with doors opening at 4:00 PM. Tickets start at just $13.

The Runners will kick off their first home game of the 3rd season on New Year’s Day Saturday January 1st, 2022 with a 5:05 PM MT kick-off at Rio Rancho Events Center (3001 Civic Center Circle Dr. NW, Rio Rancho, NM 87144).
